It’s a saying that has gone viral since the coronavirus pandemic swept the world.
And now Echuca’s Twin Rivers Primary School has used it to create a video for its students and parents.
The four-minute video features about 16 teachers as well as support and office staff lip synching to the song ‘We’re All In This Together’ while going about different activities at their homes or offices.
In less than 24 hours, the Facebook video had reached 12,000 people and received 5500 views, 81 comments and 63 shares.
Grade 1-2 teacher Justin Minchin created the video to put a smile on students’ faces.
“We’ve had a really great response, with positive comments from so many parents,” he said.
“It’s so good to read all the nice comments and how much the kids loved the video and how it made them laugh because that’s what we set out to do.”
Mr Minchin said staff brainstormed ideas for what they could do to help students and their families feel connected and give them a laugh while they were self-isolating and having to do their online schooling from home.
“After much discussion I ended up deciding ‘We’re All in This Together’ was a fun song that had a great message about what students, parents and teachers are all going through at the moment,” he said.
“We wanted students to know that we are all still connected and we are here for them and most importantly wanted to bring a smile to their faces during these current times.
“I asked all teachers to send me a short video of them doing something fun from home or wherever they were to brighten the kids’ days.
“All the staff embraced the idea and were really enthusiastic about creating the video and didn’t hesitate to send me their video.”
Teachers and staff can be seen doing everything from jumping on the trampoline and dancing with their children, reading their favourite books and cooking, to playing football, pretend fishing, and riding a go-kart.
Even principal Brea Terris made an appearance, opening a rather large birthday present.
“I spent my 40th birthday in isolation,” she laughed.
“But it was okay. While I had a quiet day at home, I got very spoilt.”
Ms Terris said the video was a great way to bring the school community together.
“It’s been lots of fun creating it and we have had so many positive comments,” she said.
Mr Minchin spent about a week putting the video together before positing it on the school’s Facebook page on Thursday morning.
“It was a bit of work, but it was worth it,” he said.
“We are all extremely pleased with the response we have had from parents and the wider community.”
