This makes it the seventh-highest fundraiser among Coles stores nationally.
And no-one could be prouder than store manager Brayden Rudeforth and team member Rhonda Pagram, who lost her husband Kevin to MND last year.
“It's great we've managed to raise so many beanies,” Rhonda said.
“Kevin would have been so proud.
“We have a great team here and I think people are starting to realise what and how bad MND is and want to help.”
Brayden said having Rhonda in the store had made a big difference when it came to beanie sales.
“When Kevin was diagnosed until the end, seeing what a horrible disease MND is and what it does to someone, people have had that personal impact within the store,” he said.
“The entire team got behind the cause and it was great to see so many people supporting us.
“We've actually sold out but have more coming later this week.
“We want to thank everyone who has bought a beanie. It's great to see the community get behind this.”
Echuca is among several stores in the north-east border region that have raised more than $100,000 to help FightMND.
Australia’s top fundraising Coles store was Deniliquin, which raised more than $25,000 and was the first store to sell 1000 beanies.
To celebrate the store's success, The Big Beanie recently travelled 400km from Mount Waverley to its new home at Coles Deniliquin.
The Big Beanie was transported by Hicks Transport Group's Warren Hicks, whose mother tragically lost the fight to ‘the beast’ in 2002.
The Cobram man's family, including niece and nephew Georgia and Liam Beasley, travelled from Echuca to Deniliquin to welcome the 3m by 3m beanie.
People can buy beanies for $20 for the next few weeks, with all proceeds directed to fund world-leading MND research in Australia and overseas to find a cure for the terminal and aggressive neurological disease.
Coles is also donating 10 cents from the sale of each pack of Coles Brand fresh pork product at every supermarket to raise further funds.
Beanies are also available from Echuca’s Fuzion Café and Candle Scents and Echuca South Corner Store, HRJ’s Upcycling in Moama, OTP Tongala Hotel Motel, Tongala Takeaway, and Bunnings.
