K mart Hub, a smaller version of the retail giant, will open on July 30 at the former Target Country site.
“As a business, we’re committed to opening stores in new communities and we’re excited to introduce the community of Echuca to our newest extension,” K mart retail director John Gualtieri said.
“Things may look a little different to what you’d expect from a K mart store today.
“Our priority is to make sure the people of Echuca have access to the everyday products they need, at the time they need them most, which is why we’re focusing on speed to market.
“But we want you to know that we have big plans to evolve the look and feel of this store over time.”
The store is set to have popular K mart products across categories including children's goods, homewares and clothing.
Customers will also be able to find their K mart and Target products online and get them sent to the hub for Click and Collect.
“We’ll be extending this service later in the year, to include our friends at Catch,” Mr Gualtieri said.
“We’re also working on providing our customers with the ability to drop-off online returns for any one of these three brands.”
Fifteen former Target staff members will stay on to form the new K mart team.
Mr Gualtieri said COVID-19 restrictions would still apply when the doors opened for the first time on Thursday, July 30.
“We’re expecting a bit of interest opening weekend and we’ve implemented a few procedures to help with this,” he said.
“We appreciate you maintaining 1.5 m physical distancing when you visit us.”
