The threat of the coronavirus and the major public health ramifications has seen many follow the premier's advice and get themselves checked.
But for some younger Victorians, the situation is harder to comprehend.
Four-year-old Cruz Mortimer may not know all the details of the why he had a COVID test, but he knows something is happening around him.
“A lot of people are sick,” he said.
“We can't go to the park, and we can't go and see Pop (who lives in Seaford).”
And when he started to feel sick, he understood he had to get tested.
“I wasn’t feeling good and then I had to go to the hospital, but I feel better now,” Cruz said.
“It wasn't scary. (The female nurse who took him in to be tested) was nice to me and the tall man (who administered the test) was nice too.
“The test didn't hurt. It tickled me a bit.”
Cruz was thankfully not sick, but was happy to do the test when he was asked.
And it gave him a story to tell his friends, though Cruz will be quick to tell them the truth about what it was like.
“(I would tell them) I wasn’t feeling good and then I had to go to the hospital, but I feel better now.”
