Statistics released by accommodation website Booking.com show Echuca is currently the ninth most searched location on its website in Victoria.
Echuca Moama Tourism chief executive Kathryn Mackenzie said the result speaks to the built up affection for the community.
“People really do love our towns,” she said.
“There is something unique about this community, having two towns with access to the river forming the one community. It really is a special place.
“People who come into town fall in love with the community and want to come back, and I think these figures are a reflection of that.
“Even with the lockdown our operators have received calls to see where things are going and to see if it would be at all possible to get bookings into the future.
“Numbers remain in a really good position considering how soon we are out of restrictions and the limited numbers who can travel here.
“We're very lucky to have a great community that people want to visit, and to have a community and operators who work so hard to make our town a destination.”
It comes as another accommodation site has given major praise to one of our local drawcards.
Moama Bowling Club has been named the fifth best bowling club in the country, as part of the Wotif Uniquely Aussie Awards.
Moama Bowling Club sales and marketing manager George Santos said it was great recognition for the club.
“We are very appreciative of the recognition and thank all those members and guests who took the time to nominate our club in these national awards,” he said.
“Our team at Moama Bowling Club are always delighted to welcome locals and visitors looking for a friendly, safe and enjoyable environment.
“It’s very pleasing to receive such an accolade at a time when due to imposed conditions we are trading slower than usual.
“This award will definitely inspire and encourage our team to keep delivering the very best service across our business.”
