The Joey Mob has been part of the Echuca Group for the past five years, with children aged between five and eight enjoying a wide range of activities.
Joey Scout Mob leader Narelle Currey said with Joeys moving into their sixth year in Echuca, and the Australian Scouting Movement under a new program, the mob would now be known as a Joey Unit.
“The new program focuses onto the individual Scout and their personal growth, with the title Joeys – Discover Adventure,” she said.
Scouting Australia, in moving with the times, recently rebranded its logo and programs are changing to reflect the needs of the youth.
“There are challenge areas – outdoor, personal growth, community and creative,” Narelle said.
“Scouts have achievement pathways which are an individual journey of personal development recognition, and these achievements are recognised through a progressive series of uniform badges.”
Achievement pathways consist of outdoor adventure skills, special interest areas, and additional requirements for the Peak Award.
The Scouting Movement in Victoria is free to join until March 31, 2021, with youth ranging between the ages of five and 25, over five sections.
