Detective Senior Constable Troy Wickham of Campaspe criminal investigation unit said police arrested Joshua Moss-Blake in a Rochester paddock on Monday, October 12, after a short foot chase.
The 27-year-old, who had a warrant out for his arrest, was charged with multiple counts of burglary and theft-related offences stemming from early August to this week.
It allegedly started with a burglary at Echuca Boats and More on August 3 and theft of a 1998 Toyota LandCruiser Troop Carrier, an outboard engine, welder, tools and a toolbox, valued about $30,000.
The troop carrier was set on fire in Anstruther St two days later.
Moss-Blake has been charged with criminal damage by fire in relation to the blaze.
He has also been charged with burglary, theft, theft of a motor vehicle and criminal damage by fire in relation to an offence in Yarrawonga between August 9 and 12.
Between September 22 and 26, Moss-Blake allegedly stole a ute in St Albans.
He is also charged with theft-related offences from the western suburbs of Melbourne, theft of a car and obtaining property by deception in Woodend between September 22 and 26, obtaining property by deception at Ravenswood and Echuca on September 26 and theft of a car from Rochester the next day.
A few days later, he allegedly broke into or damaged 13 cars and stole thousands of dollars’ worth of items across Echuca.
Moss-Blake has also been charged with three counts of theft from a motor vehicle in Elmore between October 10 and 12 and theft of a Toyota Hilux in Rochester on Monday.
Moss-Blake was remanded in custody overnight before appearing in Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, October 13.
No bail application was made, and he was further remanded to Echuca Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, October 20.
