Thanks to changes in effect since Monday, venues in regional Victoria are permitted to seat a maximum of 40 people indoors and 70 people outdoors.
Echuca Workers and Services Club general manager Erin Langman said she was disappointed with the announcement, but the business had reached a financial point where it needed money coming through the door.
“We also need to get our staff back to work and, with the weather improving as well, I think people will be a bit happier to sit outdoors,” she said.
“I know it’s not ideal but hopefully people will just be happy to come back in.”
The Workers first closed due to COVID-19 restrictions on March 23. It re-opened on June 22, before closing again on August 5.
Ms Langman said the second closure was harder on staff.
“It’s disappointing more than anything. We were excited to come back last time but this time the mood’s changed a little, like we’ve been there, done that,” she said.
“We’ve had heaps of interest from members. The phones been ringing and ringing and it’s sad not to be able to look after them.”
Moving forward, the Workers hopes to be allowed 50 people in each area before all restrictions ease.
“That would free us up to have a lot more people in enjoying the space and atmosphere,” Ms Langman said.
The Workers will be open daily from 10am, with takeaway available from the café and bistro.
For dine-in, 40 people will be accommodated indoors and 27 outdoors. Bookings are essential.
