Major Road Projects Victoria program director Eric Shegog said progress was tracking well.
“We're tracking ahead of schedule and under budget,” he said.
“Construction has gone as we would hope and without any major safety incidents, which is what we are always looking for as part of a project like this.”
The connection of the two sides of the bridge is set to begin shortly, and is expected to be completed by October.
While visiting the bridge site on Thursday morning, Deputy Prime Minster Michael McCormack said the project was a major asset for regional tourism.
“Echuca-Moama is tourism central, it's a destination point,” he said.
“And we know, these tourism destinations need infrastructure to get people moving between these towns. When we can put in place the infrastructure that promotes these tourism meccas, it can only be a good thing.
“Having the federal, Victorian and NSW governments come together to build this project, to build this community, is going to be such a boon for this tourism destination.
“And I know that as more people choose to stay at home and holiday in areas of regional Victoria and NSW, this sort of infrastructure will only build these communities.”
Mr Shegog said the next stages would see the visible change across the river.
“We've just finished placing 125 super T beams, the last of which went up on Monday,” he said.
“So we will now turn to the balanced cantilever which is built off the piers and grows at 5 m intervals on both sides and then joins in the middle.”
