Cure4 Cystic Fibrosis ambassador and Rotary Club president Teresa Carlson has organised a Christmas in July event and ticket sales are closing soon.
Ms Carlson lost two children to cystic fibrosis and has had a 20-year passion for finding a cure for the disease, which now has a life expectancy of more than 30 years.
“There’s quite a number of families in the region who have children with cystic fibrosis, so although I can’t bring my children back, I have always had that passion to do something,” she said.
“My motto has always been, together we can, together we will.”
Ms Carlson has had to cancel the event twice already because of COVID-19 but with everything going well, she hopes to raise $10,000 towards cystic fibrosis.
“We really need people to support this so that we can move further forward for care and medication for cystic fibrosis,” she said.
“We are getting there but we haven’t found a cure yet.
“It’ll be a really great night with plenty of entertainment and fun.”
A three-course traditional Christmas dinner will be served with all the trimmings and guests will be entertained by comedian Des Dowling and live music from Nick Blommy.
A mini auction will also be held and raffles and door prizes are up for grabs.
The event is at Rich River Golf Club on Saturday, July 3 at 7pm, tickets are $65 per person and all proceeds go towards cystic fibrosis. Interested attendees are urged to book by early next week.
