Construction of the new facility on the corner of Haverfield and Service streets is expected to begin next month and ERH needs to raise $1.3 million for the fit-out and completion of the wellness centre component.
Moama Lions Club president Robert Hardwick said the club was thrilled to support the new centre with a $1000 donation, after a long affiliation supporting ERH.
“Our club is more than happy to support this project and to support the local hospital, as we all use its services at some time or another,” he said.
“It is going to be great to have this new centre here in Echuca-Moama.”
ERH medical day treatment manager Lyn Jeffreson said donations from local community groups and businesses were crucial in supporting ERH to achieve its fundraising goal to provide a holistic cancer and wellness service for the Echuca-Moama and wider community.
“We thank Bob, Ron, Rysha and the entire Lions Club committee for their generous donation and the ongoing support they provide to ERH,” Mrs Jeffreson said.
“Our medical day treatment team are so excited to be moving into a purpose-built facility in mid-2022 and increasing the much needed services we provide at present to our cancer patients and their families.”
The design of the new centre will enable more people to access treatment locally and improve access to cancer and dialysis health professions.
“Our local community will benefit from high quality cancer care that goes beyond treatment alone,” Mrs Jeffreson said.
“Co-located specialist consulting rooms, purpose-built treatment areas, specialist nursing staff and allied health staff will provide a more holistic, patient-centred approach to care all in the one place.”
