Following his barnstorming run as the fastest male in the 5km run, in a time of 15 minutes nine seconds, Reid will now turn his attention to the Melbourne Marathon Festival where he will compete in the 10km event this weekend.
But he won't be stopping there as he prepares to compete in a half-marathon just two weeks later.
And Reid said he would enter both events with plenty of confidence.
“It's always nice to win a race but at the same time you always want to beat yourself,” he said.
“I was quite happy with my time because it can be difficult to run on the dirt as it can slow you down during the race.
“Getting in preparation for your next race is always a key in running and starting with the 5k run gives me a good chance to build towards the half marathon.”
While Reid said he is glad to win any race, the opportunity to do so in his home town is a proud feeling.
“For a lot of the races I do I have to travel so it's always nice to get home,” he said.
“Having the support of people, you know also makes you feel a lot better as you are running.
“And it's always good to see familiar faces out on the track.”
The win marked Reid's third straight 5km triumph, smashing last year's time of 16 minutes and 39 seconds.
