Attempted murder plea entered after Murchison car ramming

A man charged with attempted murder after ramming a woman’s car at Murchison has entered pleas to that charge and six others in court.

Jack Chambers, 33, from the Sydney suburb of Meadowbank, pleaded guilty in the Melbourne Supreme Court to attempted murder, five counts of reckless conduct endangering death, and stalking.

In a short appearance in court, Chambers was arraigned on all seven charges.

The attempted murder charge stems from an incident where he rammed a woman’s car at Murchison on January 12, 2023.

Four of the reckless conduct endangering death charges come from the same day, with the charges relating to Chambers deliberately driving his vehicle into a Kia which had stopped to help the woman.

Inside the vehicle were three passers-by and the woman who had already had her vehicle rammed off the road.

A further reckless conduct endangering death charge comes from November 9, 2022, when Chambers tried to strangle the same woman in Seymour.

The stalking charge is also against the same victim, and happened between January 7 and January 12 last year.

Chambers will next face the Shepparton Supreme Court in September.
