Attempts allegedly made to ram three police cars

Police allege the same two people then used the same Commodore to ram the doors at Mycar Tyre and Auto, off the Kmart car park between Vaughan and Ashenden Sts in Shepparton.

Nothing was stolen from the business.

Det Sen Sgt Shortis said at about 10pm, the Commodore allegedly crossed on to the wrong side of the road and drove at a police vehicle at high speed, attempting to ram it, in Moreland Rd.

The Commodore was later dumped in Archer St.

Police allege that a group stole five vehicles, including a white Chevrolet ute and a black BMW sedan, from a transport business in Feiglin Rd, Shepparton.

Det Sen Sgt Shortis alleged the ute then attempted to ram two police vehicles on two separate occasions between 2.30am and 3.30am.

One was in Wilmot Rd, Shepparton, and the other in River Rd, Kialla.

Police said the ute was dumped in Hampshire Cres, Shepparton, about 4.45am and the two occupants got into the allegedly stolen BMW which already had three people in it.

As well as the alleged attempted rammings, police said the cars were also driven erratically in Shepparton.

The BMW was tracked to Rushworth by the police air wing, with five people arrested in bushland on Nagambie-Rushworth Rd.

A 23-year-old Shepparton man has been charged with eight offences, including dangerous driving while pursued by police, theft of a vehicle, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and other associated charges.

A 23-year-old Shepparton man has been charged with more than 28 offences including burglary, theft of a vehicle and criminal damage.

A 20-year-old Kialla woman has been charged with 10 offences, including theft of a vehicle, burglary, and possessing methamphetamines.

All three will face the magistrates’ court.

Police cautioned a 17-year-old Kialla boy and a 17-year-old Ringwood girl.
