Fear not: it hasn’t been polished off, it’s just in need of polishing up.
The hotel’s roof is having work done as part of extensive refurbishments, so the giant Carlton Draught bottle had to temporarily come down.
Owners Jane and David Bushell said they realised the big beer had “Run its race in the sun,” and sent it off to be restored at Signarama in Echuca.

Hotel renovations will include a new sporting bar, a larger, street-facing courtyard, an update to the accommodation, and an extended bistro, among other works.
The Bushells said the hotel will operate as normal while the works occur, which should be completed in late October.
The Big Stubby, however, will return to its rightful perch in the next few weeks, where it has sat since the 1990s.
