“A blood donation is needed every 18 seconds in Australia,” she said.

“There are patients right across the country who will be relying on blood products each week, including the 33,000 blood donations needed this week.”

The blood will go to those in need for a whole range of reasons, Ms Reynolds said.

“These people could be cancer patients in hospitals that will be relying on blood products. They could be (newly) pregnant women or new mothers experiencing childbirth complications,” she said.

“Some will be premature babies, road trauma patients or people with autoimmune conditions.”

Echuca already has about 400 of the appointment spots booked in, but Lifeblood hopes to fill the last 32.

“We love visiting Echuca because we find that the community responds to our call-out, and it’s always really well supported,” Ms Reynolds said.

“We are really grateful for all our blood donors in the Echuca region who always support us every time we visit the area.”
