Bluey Boulevard is expecting to attract an abundance of foot traffic between now and January 15 as 10 round bales adorned with paintings of the characters from the immensely popular ABC television series take up residence at Potts Village Green.
Bluey, her younger sister Bingo, archaeologist dad Bandit and airport security worker mum Chilli, along with the likes of Bluey’s cousin Muffin, Jack, Rusty, Lucky and Kiwi friend Mackenzie are among the characters from the Bluey series.
In all, there are 29 characters, in all, that feature in the featuring in the show, centres around a six-year-old female Blue Heeler pup named Bluey — who loves to play.
Not all the characters have rated a mention on the bales — that would be almost impossible, but for those interested the characters are designed to represent a cross section of personalities and abilities.
They range from the impatient Coco to the thoughtful Honey, the science-loving Snickers to the super-kind Chloe, a French Canadian camping buddy named Jean Luc and even extended family members Nana, Grandad, Uncle Stripe and Aunt Trixie.
This year is the third year of the trail, with 16 installations gracing the streets of Tongala during the holiday period.
Five of the 16 painted hay bale creations form the new Tongala address, created by Anna Fitzgerald, Dael Summers and Kristen Gordon.
Tongala Development Group’s hay bale trail started in 2020, with a family painting Bluey and Bingo on hay bales, at their farm, for their children.
They were so popular the bales were brought into town for all to enjoy during COVID-19 lockdowns.
This was the beginning of the trail and it has grown each year.
All 16 installations are painted by volunteers, many without any painting experience.
