Social bowls last week saw the annual Kennaugh triples event conducted with 16 teams involved.
After three games of eight ends the winners were Dennis Compton, Louisa Dean and Belinda Chong from Russell Kelly, Marie Malone and Ann Vanderkley.
Thursday’s Jackpot Pairs saw visitors from Moama, Lockington, Kyabram, Tongala, Rich River and Elmore.
There were six two game winners with the overall winners being Mal Thorn and Max Clifford with 2+18 from Ivan Hicks and Trevor Liddell with 2+16.
The best game other than the winners were John Dignan and Kevin McAsey.
Round three of mid-week pennant saw one team up and one down.
White travelled to Elmore and won by a resounding 58 shots, winning all three rinks.
The best result was Roma Opie (s), Kerry Evans, Rhonda Gallagher and Sue Proctor (+26).
Blue won two of the three rinks but went down 21 shots to Mathoura Blue.
The best rink was Marie Malone (s), Belinda Chong, Joan Armstrong and Lorelle Opthoog (+8).
Weekend pennant saw three of the four teams have a win.
Division one defeated Mathoura by 17 shots with two rinks up plus a draw in the other.
The best winning rink was Matt Liverton (s), Jim Ferrier, Trevor Liddell and Wayne Brooks (+10).
Division two lost their third game, going down to Mathoura by 12 shots.
The only winning rink was Michelle Cunnington (s), Bill Cook, Di Payne and Carlie Taylor (+22).
Division three defeated Elmore by 14 shots with two rinks up.
The best rink was Nathan Beecroft (s), Tony Deenen, Noel West and Robyn Tooley (+13).
Division four won by 29 shots over Elmore.
The best winning rink was John Dignan (s), Kevin Bursill, John Hollowood and Bob Pratt (+25).
They jumped out of the blocks to lead 20 to zero after nine ends and eventually won 34 to 9.
Entries are open for the ladies Christmas fours to be held on Wednesday, December 9.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions the number of teams is limited so be quick with your teams to Rhonda Gallagher on 0448 400 051.
The following week sees the men’s Christmas fours bonanza being held on Thursday, December 17.
Teams usually come from far and wide for both these events.

The club’s five-a-side competition is really heating up after five rounds with two to go.

Lockington
There has been action aplenty at the club this past week.
Social bowls, scrounge, pennant and culminating with the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the CVBD State Mixed Pairs event played on Sunday.
At the social bowls on Tuesday the women had a quality field in action.
At the end of the day the star-studded rink of Sue Harris, Denise Gilmore, Anne Lowrie, Lois Chugg (s) reigned supreme.
The scrounge event attracted a small field with the winners being Frank Chugg, Don Smith and Rochester visitor Anton Gusak.
The Friday morning round of intraclub pennant resulted in Banksia - Pauline Humbert (s) defeating the Waratahs - Annette Brereton (s), while the Grevillias - Lois Chugg (s) defeated Bottlebrush - Phylis MacFarlane (s) in a close affair.
Banksia head the ladder ahead of Grevillias.
In the weekend round of CVBD pennant the club had a one win – one loss ratio.
Division three suffered a 17-shot loss to top of the table Mathoura 50-67 with all three rinks down.

Division four returned to form defeating Ky Valley View 68-50 with two rinks up.

Both division three and four are placed in fourth position in their respective divisions.
The CVBD State Mixed Pairs was held at the club on Sunday.
Bowlers enjoyed the true running green but had to withstand some blustery wind conditions.
At times it was “hold on to your hats”, however, this did not deter the bowlers from displaying some extraordinary bowling.
Results: Quarter-finals — Mia Young and Rob Young (Moama) def. Marilyn Stephenson and Wayne Stephenson (Moama) 25-20; Kelly Norris and Roy Jackson (Moama) def. Leica Roney (City of Echuca) and George Thornley (Moama) 19-15.
In the semi-finals the Young combination played another Moama pair in Kath and Rob Wastell (s).
In a game that produced several highlights, eventually resulted in a victory to the Wastells’ 15-13.
The other semi-final was between the Norris and Jackson pairing and the Mathoura representatives Pam Lewis and Les Bates.
This game was also action packed with the display from the two leaders Lewis and Norris, the most entertaining bowls that one may experience.
Both teams picked up triples in the early stages, but then the scoring was restricted to singles and the occasional double.
Norris and Jackson prevailed to win the match 17-14 and will now meet the Wastell pair in the final to be held in the new year.
The women were thanked for their excellent service during the day.
The club championships are underway with Brian Kinnane and Phillip Cunnington first round winners.
The Friday evening practice and barbeque was well attended with Phillip Cunnington winning the lucky members draw.
Birthday wishes to Neil Haines on reaching the 80 year mark (O.B.E.) and also to Bill Musgrove, just a couple years behind Haines.

Pam Lewis and Les Bates had made it through to the knockout games having won their section last weekend, they lost the next round and are now out of the running.

Rich River
Weekend pennant success continued for us with two of the four teams, divisions 1 and 4, winning again.
Division 2 narrowly went down by only four shots overall.
Meanwhile division 3 won one of three rinks but were beaten overall.
Our mid-week team put up a good effort but were beaten by a more powerful team.
Ladies’ Tuesday social bowls now commences at 9.30am until further notice.
The Friday mixed social bowls trialled last week was well accepted with a good roll up contesting two games each of eight ends in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere and this will continue through until further notice at 10am, an entry sheet is on our notice board at the clubhouse.
Our ladies’ and men’s minor and club championships are well under way so please be vigilant of the dates by which rounds must be played to coincide with our finals for both scheduled for Sunday, December 13.
The men’s annual Willis Shield in conjunction with Mathoura Bowling Club is set down for Thursday, November 26 to be played at Mathoura with a starting time of 6.30pm.
Those members from our club who are listed as playing need to make their own transport arrangements to arrive no later than 6pm for teams to be organised by the match committees.
A number of our club members have entered various state events that are commencing shortly and we wish them the best of luck from all our members.
Wednesday Jackpot Pairs on November 11 were interrupted by stormy weather which saw only two ends of the second game completed before being called off.
Nevertheless some great scores were recorded in the first games with the following results.

60 and Over
The Campaspe Valley and District 60 and over bowls group held their weekly bowls at Rochester Bowls Club in warm but stormy conditions.
There were 28 teams, that’s 112 players competing for a chook.
Two teams won three games then rolled off to within the yard stick.
A team from Kyabram were the winners on the day with five bowls within the yard stick.
The team were Les Grills, Mitch Steven, Neville Walters and Greame Woodcock.
They also won the Bill Jackson Shield which was presented to the team by president Eddie Smith.
The team from Lockington, consisting of Don Isgro, Tom Davis, Alan Kauffman and Russell Shawcross came second, they had four bowls within the yard stick.
Members of both teams received a chook each.
Next Wednesday, November 18 60 and over bowls is at Kyabram Bowls Club with a 10am start.
