All four of the club’s weekend pennant teams have got their respective campaigns off to the perfect start with two wins from two matches.
The division one side has led the way with two big wins over City of Echuca and Tongala, both of whom finished above the NSW club last season.
At the weekend, Rich River was far too good for Tongala as it won all three rinks to finish 28 shots clear.
Club president Gary Radford, who plays in the division one side, said he was really pleased with his team’s start.
“We’re going very nicely across the board,” he said.
“I think it’s a sign of improvement when we’re beating teams who gave us a little bit of trouble last season.
“Hopefully now we can capitalise on the good start and put ourselves in a good position heading into December.”
Rich River’s hopes of moving up the ladder were boosted in the off-season with three additions to last year’s team.
They include Colin Hayes from Buninyong near Ballarat and Darryl Weymouth who joined from Deniliquin RSL after the club elected to sit out the season.
Meanwhile, Peter Nesbitt has returned to the club having featured in Rich River’s 1999 premiership team.
“We’re thrilled to have all of those guys back,” Radford said.
“When you can add quality to your team it is always going to make a difference, especially when everything clicks.
“They’ve all played at a high standard before and that’s been telling in the first couple of games.
“Darryl has been chosen to skip one of our rinks and it’s already looking like the right decision.”
Moama is the only other side with a perfect record after the first two games as the powerhouse got the better of Echuca by nine shots.
That loss now leaves Echuca winless two rounds into the season.
And in the final match of division one, Rochester took home the points against Mathoura.
● IN MID-WEEK pennant, four teams remain undefeated after the first two rounds of action.
Eleven was the lucky number for Moama Red and Blue as both sides shared the same margin of victory against Mathoura Blue and Echuca Blue respectively.
Elsewhere, Elmore was far too good for Tongala winning by a whopping 52 shots.
Meanwhile, Echuca White stayed unbeaten with a comfortable win over Rich River.
