Carmen Nicholson, the newly appointed president of the Kyabram Plaza Theatre, graciously accepted the award on behalf of the dedicated team.
“I would like to thank the Campapspe Shire and Kyabram Rotary Club for their organisation of these awards and the event.” Ms Nicholson said.
Highlighting the significance of the recognition, Ms Nicholson shed light on the collaborative efforts of the 40 volunteers on the roster. These volunteers contribute their time and skills across various roles, including ticket box management, kiosk operations, ushering, projections, building maintenance, movie preparation, reporting, finance, social media management, movie planning, rostering, cleaning and purchasing stock.
Ms Nicholson emphasised the substantial dedication required to operate the Plaza Theatre.
“On its own, to screen a movie at the plaza takes about eight hours of volunteer time to run the movie,” Ms Nicholson said
She noted that this accolade goes beyond a singular moment; it is a celebration of the tireless contributions of past and present volunteers who have played pivotal roles in the success and vibrancy of the Kyabram Plaza Theatre.
With the plaza building having been in the Kyabram community for 95 years, the community is excited to celebrate such a fantastic institution.
“So many people have contributed so much over the years, and as a community, we are forever grateful,” Ms Nicholson concluded, expressing the collective appreciation of the community for the dedicated individuals who have shaped the Kyabram Plaza Theatre into a cherished local institution.
