This year’s event, on Saturday, April 12, will feature performances by Golden City Bendigo and Horsham City Pipe Bands, Highland Muscle Heavy Events, including tossing the caber, the prestigious Riverina Highland Dancing Titles, as well as an exciting array of stalls, food vendors and children’s activities.
The Scotsman music returns with Auld Alliance alongside a showcase of highland dancing at its finest.
Visitors are encouraged to line the Lachlan St parade route, stepping off at 10.30am from the tennis courts to the IGA car park. Chieftain Jim Bissett will declare the gathering open at Hay Services Club at 11.30am.
A key highlight of the day is the Kilted Dash for Cash, to be held at about 4pm, a crowd-favourite event where participants don their kilts and race for a chance to win cash prizes, thanks to Hay Little Athletics.
“We are thrilled to host the Hayland Gathering for a third year, providing a fantastic experience that honours Scottish traditions while offering fun for the whole family,” Hayland Gathering convenor Kylie Kerr said.
“With a mix of entertainment, competitions and cultural showcases, there’s truly something for everyone to enjoy.”
Saturday night will allow people to let down their hair with a tradition ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee).
Australian champion Elie Roe Daniel will dazzle with breathtaking performances of traditional and contemporary Scottish dance.
