The Echuca CFA held an open day at its station on Sunday, November 10, inviting the community to learn about the organisation, fire safety, and volunteering.

There was a range of activities for local kids to join, including open vehicle displays, fire hose demonstrations, a craft station, and miniature fire truck and helicopters to interact with.
Echuca brigade captain Daniel Moylan said the event ran smoothly and they saw a great turnout.
“The day went really, really well. The weather was perfect for us. We reckon we had between 250 to 280 through the door,” he said.

The open day presented a chance for education following the onset of the fire danger period in Campaspe on Monday, November 4.
“It was a good opportunity to get out and do a bit of fire safety,” Mr Moylan said.
The event helped to connect the community with station volunteers, which can provide a friendly, familiar face to residents should they need the CFA in their time of need, Mr Moylan said.
Information on how to become a CFA volunteer was also offered, although Mr Moylan said no roles were currently available in the brigade.
“It was more education at this stage. We’ve got a strong membership, so we’re just taking a wait list at the moment.
“We’re pretty full – it’s very healthy in that sense,” Mr Moylan said.
The event ran from 10.00am to 2.00pm with food trucks, a free barbecue, a station tour, and a fire investigation stand which had information on the brigade’s history.
