C4EM is a member-based, incorporated association which advocates for and supports initiatives that will make an enduring and positive contribution to Echuca-Moama’s economic prosperity, social wellbeing, cultural cohesion and environmental landscape.
Formed in 2011, C4EM joined a larger family called Committees for Cities and Regions, which has organisations across Australia and New Zealand.
Taking on the chair’s role this year after two years on the board is Cath Lees, who is head of Education Governance and Development at the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
‘’Joining C4EM has been a fantastic way to better understand our community and advocate for change,’’ she said.
‘‘Now is an exciting time to be part of C4EM.’’
C4EM has launched two working groups — the workforce, education, training and leadership working group, and a tourism working group which was formed after the organisation acquired the digital assets of Echuca Moama and District Tourism Association.
The organisation has also hosted a series of breakfast events which have proved popular, and recently ran candidate forums for Murray River Council and Campaspe Shire Council elections.
‘’The thing which strikes me most about C4EM is that there is no other organisation providing advocacy, thought leadership or long-term vision for the growth and prosperity of Echuca-Moama,’’ Dr Lees said.
‘‘Broad-based, representative bodies like C4EM will always have greater power and influence (at all levels of government) than any individual, single interest group or entrepreneur in Echuca-Moama.’’
Deputy chair Scott Spedding said being part of C4EM meant being involved in identifying and shaping future priorities for Echuca-Moama
‘‘Membership of C4EM is an investment in your community’s future,’’ he said.
If you would like to learn more about becoming a member, C4EM is hosting an information evening aboard the PS Hero on Thursday, October 24, from 6pm, which will include finger food and drinks. Tickets are free, but bookings are required at www.eventbrite.com.au/e/1032251781867?aff=oddtdtcreator
