The local favourite launched a new frequency for Echuca-Moama listeners on Monday and can be found at 102.9 on the FM dial.
That has resulted in sister station EDGE FM moving to 103.9 FM.
2QN/EDGE FM general manager Ange Frino said the move from AM to FM for 2QN was the first step of a full transition for the beloved station.
“The AM signal is very strong, but technology is moving so fast in the FM space,” Ms Frino said.
“New cars built these days do not have AM radios.
“This (shift to FM) is something we’ve had in the planning for a little while now and it is an exciting step for us.”
Ms Frino said 2QN would still broadcast on the 1521AM frequency, but the switch to FM provided many opportunities.
“The FM listening experience is crystal clear and we’ve already had great feedback from listeners in the Echuca-Moama region,” she said.
“A lot of effort has gone in behind the scenes. We’ve worked closely with ACMA (Australian Communications and Media Authority) on the infrastructure changes.
“We’ve also got the new transmitter in Echuca Moama, which is located on top of our office building (in Anstruther St).
“It allows us to provide a strong signal on the new frequency right from the heart of town and enhances the listener experience.”
Ms Frino said the station had plans to roll out the FM frequency for 2QN in Cobram/Barooga and Deniliquin.
Among the programs on 2QN are The Morning Rush with Sean and Monkey, Mornings with Neil Mitchell, Country Today hosted by Libby Price, Afternoons with Damo and Nights with Denis Walter.
A part of the ACE Radio family, 2QN also broadcasts the Coodabeen Champions on a Friday afternoon and live top football action through AFL Nation.
