For the past 20 years, the Cobram resident has been putting up a spectacular Christmas lights display for the people of Cobram to enjoy.
However, on Friday, December 8, she woke up to find that a starburst decoration, a dancing Christmas tree, two sets of icicle lights and a lighted sign with the word “Joy” was destroyed by vandals.
“I hadn’t noticed them (the destroyed decorations) till I was driving out this morning (Friday, December 8),” Ms Gattuso said.
The destroyed Christmas decorations were part of a Christmas display that has been up since November 22.
It’s the first time damage has been done to the display in all the years it has gone up.
“It was a big stressful job to put the lights up, but I do it for the town, and it was very disheartening in the morning to see that,” Ms Gattuso said.
Along with the items destroyed, during the day after the initial destruction the property was again targeted with a Santa on a motorbike stolen.
Ms Gattuso hopes that no-one else suffers the same damage that she has and said such actions ultimately affect the whole community.
“This is what puts other people off from putting lights up,” she said.
Cobram Police has said anyone who has had their Christmas decorations damaged should contact them.
