Temperatures are heating up from Friday, December 23, with 31℃ forecast, while Saturday should be 32℃.
Christmas Day is set to be a hot one in Shepparton this year, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
The mercury is forecast to rise to 36℃ for the festive day.
Temperatures will be even hotter on Monday, December 26, and Tuesday, December 27, with 39℃ forecast.
Wednesday, December 28, will send people running for the cover of airconditioned homes or swimming pools, with the temperature set to hit 40℃.
Overnight Tuesday and Wednesday will also be warm, with 21℃ and 23℃ forecast respectively.
With the outdoor pools and splash parks at Aquamoves still closed because of damage from the floods in October, people will have to look elsewhere for some swimming respite this year.
The indoor pools at Aquamoves will still be open, however if you want some outdoor swimming pool fun, head to Mooroopna or Merrigum pools.
There is also a splash park and toddler pool at Merrigum, making it an ideal spot to take younger members of the family.
Tatura pool has been closed after it was damaged in a hail storm on Thursday, December 22, and is expected to remain closed for at least a few weeks.
Greater Shepparton City Council active living manager David Booth said Aquamoves indoor pools were expected to be busy, while the rural pools offered a good alternative to those who want to go swimming during the next week.
“If it’s going to be that hot, people are going to want to go swimming,” Mr Booth said.
“We actively encourage people to go to the outdoor pools.”
Mr Booth said the Moorooopna, Merrigum and Tatura swimming pools would open from 1pm to 7pm each day except Christmas Day.
They will also stay open until about 8pm on days where the temperature is 38℃ or higher.
The indoor pools at Aquamoves will be closed Christmas Day, but are otherwise open from 6am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to 5pm on weekends.
