Lillian was born in 1892, the same year Henry Lawson wrote The Drover's Wife and cemented his place in Australia's literary history.
When Lillian reads the short story as a teenager, she is convinced that it is based upon her own family and becomes determined to prove it.
As the years pass, the truth becomes more problematic, and Lillian must decide what is more important: holding onto the past or embracing the future.
Born in Adelaide as the daughter of German immigrants, Kyra Geddes spent her infancy in the South Australian opal fields before moving to Sydney.
Following a successful career in marketing, Kyra returned to university to study English and pursue her life-long dream of writing, publishing two short stories and earning the Vice-Chancellor's Award for Academic Excellence.
The Story Thief is her debut novel, and the culmination of almost a decade of research and writing.

Yarrawonga Lions Annual Garage Sale
Well, it is on again and now is the opportunity to do a clean-up, declutter and book a site for our town garage sale. A perfect opportunity to earn some extra cash for Christmas.
This garage sale is on Sunday, November 24 in Yarrawonga and Mulwala. You can check the Lions club Facebook page for more information or if you have made the decision to participate you can book online through trybookings – Lions Yarrawonga Mulwala town Garage Sale 2024.
If you prefer to fill in a manual form, then drop it into the Saturday morning K Hub BBQ and ask one of the members. They are always happy to help.
On the day town maps will be available at the Lions Clubrooms in Dunlop Street from 7.15am for a gold coin donation, with garage sales commencing from 7.30am. This map will list the addresses and items for sale at each garage sales that are registered with the club. Lions will be cooking bacon and egg rolls and sausages to get your day off to a good start.
The cost of a site is $20 with all proceeds from this event being donated to the Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation.
For the past 30 years Australian Lions have been spearheading the fight against childhood cancer in Australia. 17 years ago, Lions formalised their commitment to supporting children with cancer by establishing the Lions Cord Blood and Childhood Cancer Research Appeal.

Helping Hands afternoon tea

Park rubbish disgrace
I visited the Mulwala National Park last weekend to find litter strewn widely across the beach there.
To further compound this irresponsible behaviour piles of human faeces and toilet paper were also noted at the base of several trees.
Absolutely disgusting behaviour. One cannot blame tourists solely. Locals frequent these lovely beaches also. This is absolutely appalling. This is Australia, not a third world country. Sadly, it is starting to look like one.
