Instead of starting school this year, the local girl is now up to her 10th open heart surgery at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
Big W Echuca, along with local businesses and community groups, came together to host a fundraiser for Kadyn and her family.
“It was heartwarming to see the community come to support Kadyn and her family,” Big W store manager Stacee Thompson said.
“I would like to thank all the businesses that helped out on the day — Mackrells Elite Meats, Moama Bakery, Woolworths, Men’s Shed, FoodShare Shepparton and Echuca Distillery.
“Especially my team members here at Big W, some of whom volunteered and helped out all day, even though they weren't on shift.”
Hundreds of people came along to the event, which raised more than $5000 for the family.
“The money will be used to meet the current cost of living, because even with a sick child there are still things that need to be paid for,” Ms Thompson said.
“The generosity of the community was mind blowing.
“Tina, Kadyn’s grandmother, came down, which was very overwhelming for everyone and very emotional for the family as well.
“Tina drove up from the Children’s Hospital to personally thank everyone for fundraising and supporting Kadyn.”
