Ahead of local government elections, voters are encouraged to check their enrolment details with the NSW Electoral Commission.
NSW residents must enrol or change their address by 6pm on Monday, August 5 to be eligible to vote.
“If you’ve moved recently or aren’t enrolled to vote where you currently live, update your details now so you can vote at a polling place near you on September 14,” acting NSW electoral commissioner Matt Phillips said.
“You cannot vote outside your local government area at local council elections, so it’s important your details on the electoral roll are correct.”
The process is simple, with NSW residents asked to check if they are registered through the NSW EC look up service.
All Australians enrol to vote through the Australian Electoral Commission, which then shares this information with state counterparts.
To update a residential address, go to the Australian Electoral Commission website.
Enrolment can also be accessed online at https://aec.gov.au/enrol/
“All you need to enrol is a driver's licence or similar identification document, or you can have someone who is already enrolled confirm your identity,” Dr Phillips said.
