The bikes were presented to Anglicare and the Njernda Medical Centre to be gifted to disadvantaged children.
As part of a team building activity during Coolabah Turf’s season launch, 50 staff members constructed the bikes in teams.
General manager Michelle Hearn said supporting the community was important for their success.
She was also happy the bikes would be put to good use.
“We believe the only way our business can be successful is to support the community,” she said.
“[The bikes] will be used by kids to get to school and to workplaces and its preventing transportation being a barrier to get to those.
“We’re also really passionate about ditching screen time for green time so we’re excited that this can go towards that.”
The enthusiastic response to the donation from the recipients and the team had inspired the company to explore more ways they could continue to give back.
Medical centre staff will be using their bikes as prizes for their September Health Drive.
A representative from Njernda said they were grateful for the support from the community and the children who received the bikes would be overjoyed.
“We're so grateful for the donation and for the community’s support,” she said.
“There will be some little people who will be exploding with joy at receiving such a generous gift which we couldn't have made possible without the generosity.”
They said the bikes would be a great way to promote health and bring families together.
“It also promotes what we want, which is health with physical exercise and also brings families together as they teach kids how to ride a bike so it has all these ripple effects, it’s a win-win.”
Anyone who receives a health assessment during the month of September at Njernda will go into the draw to win prizes.
All prizes will be drawn at the end of September.
