On Wednesday, December 20, the first of the Summer Splash pool party series kicks off at the Mooroopna War Memorial Swimming Pool.
From 4pm to 7pm, attendees can enjoy inflatable games, live music from local songstress Jessica Lorraine, and art activities with local artist and director of Shepparton Festival Kristen Retallick.
Free slushies and snow cones will be available, as well as a sausage sizzle by the Kiwanis Club of Mooroopna and Mad About Coffee and Donuts selling their goods.
Council’s manager of flood recovery Carla Dixon said that the pool party will be a fun and informative event with information from Emergency Recovery Victoria about recovery and available services for those affected by the October 2022 floods.
“This initiative aims to nurture social connection and raise awareness of the support available,” she said.
“It’s about using existing community assets to bring communities together and leverage them, and Mooroopna has a great pool space.
“We want to build social capital back into these towns and direct communities.”
Ms Dixon said the recovery team are planning a number of events and social activities for children, young people, carers and parents.
This includes two additional Summer Splash pool parties in Murchison and Tatura in January.
Mooroopna’s Summer Splash pool party is on Wednesday, December 20, from 4pm to 7pm at the Mooroopna War Memorial Swimming Pool, 23 Ann St, Mooroopna.
