CSC students to attend prestigious science forum

Three Cobram Secondary College students have been chosen to participate in the prestigious ANZAAS Residential International Forum for Science.

Year 10 students Kail Turner, Taylar Knight and Adithi Gurunathan will attend the event in Melbourne in the first week of July.

They will be joined by students from all around Australia as they participate in science activities, behind-the-scene tours of facilities and lectures.

Among the places to be visited include the Department of Defence Research, RMIT and Melbourne University, the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research and the Melbourne Museum.

High abilities co-ordinator and maths and science teacher George Allen, who helped guide and support the students in getting selected, told the Courier that the three students had to submit an application process in which they had to describe their scientific aspirations.

Kail, one of the students selected, is hoping that the experience will help him choose a career.

“I’d like to get into either medicine or space exploration, two very different science career pathway,” he said.
