On Tuesday, September 29, the Victorian Government announced bookings were being accepted, with appointments available from Monday, October 5.
Tests available include light vehicle, learner permit and hazard perception.
While motorcycle and heavy vehicle testing will continue to be available.
All tests that had previously been suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions have since been rearranged.
“This is great news for regional Victorians — we know there are a lot of people out there who have been waiting to book a licence test for almost six months and we’re pleased that this is now available to them,” Roads Minister Ben Carroll said.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the hard work of testing officers, instructors and VicRoads customer service centre staff for their hard work and we’d ask regional Victorians to be patient as these bookings become available.”
Tongala’s Rose-ann Mulholland from R.A.Z. Driving School said it was a good step forward for budding drivers.
“The problem hasn’t been those wanting to go for their licence so much, it’s the kids who have had to wait to sit their learner's test,” she said.
“We’ve been fortunate that a lot of students have still been able to practice during the tightened restrictions and could test under hardship.
“I’m looking forward to seeing more kids get their learner's so they can get out on the road.”
Face coverings are required when entering a VicRoads customer service centre and during tests.
Customers can book via the VicRoads website, or call 13 11 71. For more information, visit www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/coronavirus
