Edge FM presenter Leah Wiernik hosted a special birthday program outside the store to celebrate the milestone on Tuesday, December 6.
East Corner Store was first established in 1890.
Rising from humble beginnings, the store initially sold boots but later converted into a butcher shop.
In the 1950s the store transformed into a beloved takeaway and general store, which it remains today.
Owners Tania and Zoanne Bell took over the cherished store a year ago and have been selling essential grocery items and serving up mouthwatering meals ever since.
Burgers, fish and chips, sandwiches, roasts, sweet treats and coffee are just some of the delicious items listed on the corner store’s abundant menu.
Tania said they had made a conscious effort to incorporate and support other local businesses in the region.
“We utilise and purchase products from The Pear Tree Echuca, Echuca Frozen Foods, Echuca Smallgoods, River Port and Cadell,” she said.
“We are in the process of partnering with Echuca Moama Florists, which means our store will become a pick-up and order point, and we will also have a selection of fresh and dried flowers available for purchase.”
And like many businesses in the community, East Corner Store supported volunteers during the floods by donating dozens of sandwiches and trays of hot food along with drinks and care packets for those living on the ‘wrong side’ of the levee.
Tania said she was grateful to every customer that has walked through the door.
“Thank you to all who have supported us in our first year,” she said.
“We really do appreciate it.”
The store will be closing over the Christmas holidays from December 23 to January 3.
Be sure to visit the store at 142 Pakenham St, Echuca.
