The Echuca Historical Society has begun work on a series of videos that tell the town's stories in a new and creative way.
“History is often presented in a dry boring manner and we have tried to ‘do it differently’,” EHS president Dot Hammond said.
“More and more people are wanting information in an interesting format.
“It also gives those who were locked up at home something different to view and keep our name in the media.”
After sitting through a number of virtual seminars, Dot and the team got to work.
“We spent lots of time finding interesting stories, researching the facts, finding and having enough photos to cover the timeframe,” she said.
“We were very short of photos for some.
“We needed something to keep us focused and able to do from home.”
Each video, spanning around 20 minutes each, tells a different part of the town's history, from its discovery and building of monumental structures up to the present day.
While there are only two videos online at the moment, the team has a long list of ideas for future work.
“The list is just endless, but we really want to continue this project,” Dot said.
“This is quite a costly operation, though thanks must go to Vast Creative and Mick Coventry for their generous donation of time and to Campaspe Shire for the Community Grants funding which allowed this project to get off the ground.”
