Echuca's Paddlewheel Motel will benefit from $21,566 in funding to ease the cost associated with energy bills.
The Paddlewheel Motel is one of eight hotels in the Nicholls electorate to share in a grant of $185,000.
Federal Member for Nicholls Damian Drum said energy was one area in which businesses could especially benefit from assistance.
“Energy costs are one of the biggest overheads for publicans and hotel owners, and these grants will reduce these operating costs and help them reinvest in their business during this critical time as we emerge from COVID-19,” he said.
Moama Central Motel and Rich River Golf Club will also benefit from funding on the NSW side of the river.
Federal Member for Farrer Sussan Ley said any assistance to local business was a major advantage.
“These grants will help local operators to save on energy costs, putting more money back in their pockets and supporting the creation of new jobs, including for local electricians, carpenters, engineers and plumbers,” she said.
Energy Minister Angus Taylor said supporting the hotel industry was essential after the damage caused by COVID.
“As we secure Australia’s economic recovery from COVID-19, backing businesses to get ahead is a key priority of the Morrison Government,” he said.
“Over 85 per cent of the grants awarded will go to hotels in regional or remote Australia, providing a significant boost to our regions.
“This is good news for tourist destinations welcoming back visitors after COVID-19-related restrictions.”
