The group gathered at the centre to listen to a presentation by Candice Szabo from Kennaugh’s on all things to do with gardens this spring.
The club members learnt about a range of topics including the correct lawn fertiliser and weed killers, seasonal plantings, ideal plants for the area and pest control.
The members also took the chance to share their own gardening tips with each other after Ms Szabo’s presentation.
The club’s publicity officer Helen Taverner said the day was organised by one of their members and was an enjoyable day.
“Kerry Connellan was the hostess of the month ... she went down to Kennaugh’s and arranged for them to do a talk,” she said.
“It all went very nicely and the girl gave us a really nice outline of seasonal plantings and all that stuff.”
Each month, a different member takes a turn to choose an activity for everyone to attend.
The activities vary each time, with past events being held at local nurseries, succulent gardens and members’ private gardens.
Mrs Taverner said the monthly meeting is not limited to just physical garden work.
“It’s not all about digging the garden or all that, it can be whatever the hostess of the month sources out,” she said.
The club meets monthly at the Echuca Workers and Services Club on Annesley St on the first Monday of every month from 10am to 11.45am.
