Echuca Neighbourhood House manager Sarah Peake said ENH would save $1500 each year from power bill savings as a result of the 7.8kW solar system being installed.
“We’re really pleased to be able to get our energy from a renewable source and reduce our bills by around 60 per cent at the same time,” Ms Peake said.
“Our investment in rooftop solar shows the community how to make the energy transition, and it means the community will benefit from more programs because of the energy savings we’ll make.”
This solar installation was supported by the Community Power Hub Loddon Mallee, which Bendigo Sustainability Group is leading.
The Community Power Hub helped with getting quotes and managing the paperwork needed.
The Community Power Hub is increasing the access, involvement and ownership of renewable energy in the Loddon Mallee.
Bendigo Sustainability Group was awarded funding by Sustainability Victoria on behalf of the Victorian Government to establish the hub.
Project Manager Tony O’Loughlin said the Community Power Hub advocated to secure a generous solar rebate from Solar Victoria and did the technical analysis to find a suitably sized rooftop solar system.
“We love nothing more than helping community organisations make the transition to renewable energy,” Mr O’Loughlin said.
“The Echuca Neighbourhood House is a place for people to come and learn and get support when they need it.
“We hope this installation helps the neighbourhood house provide more much-needed services and learning opportunities to the Echuca community.”
