Three cars were broken into overnight Monday and thousands of dollars’ worth of items were stolen.
One of those cars belonged to Mish Potter, who had just returned home after a hospital stay.
Her Ford sedan was parked in Darling St when thieves stole her laptop from it between 11pm on Monday and 7am Tuesday.
“It was unlocked as I just got out of hospital and I wasn't even thinking about taking stuff out of the car, I just wanted to lie down,” she said.
The $600 laptop had photos and videos of her young nieces and nephews and grandmother.
“I haven't seen them since Christmas and now I won't get those photos back again,” she said.
Just around the corner from Mish, in Hovell St, another unlocked car was entered.
Thieves stole a small amount of cash from the Hyundai sedan between 2.30pm on Monday and 9.30am the next day.
“I would suspect these are linked,” Detective Senior Constable Stuart Poulton of Echuca criminal investigation unit said.
Over the same night, between 6pm and 6am, a ute parked in Crofton St was broken into.
Thieves forced open the cab and stole about $3000 worth of assorted tools.
Det. Snr Constable Poulton said police had forensically examined the cars and inquiries were continuing.
“We would appeal to witnesses or anyone who may have seen anything suspicious that night,” he said.
