The site is set to undergo $174,000 worth of works, which will see a sealed training area installed to minimise trip hazards on loose gravel.
The works will also provide an all-weather training area to be utilised by Echuca Moama Search and Rescue, as well as the Echuca SES Unit.
Local unit controller Judi Cantwell said the changes would be welcomed by the team of volunteers.
“This is something we’ve been looking forward to for a long time,” she said.
“The upgrades will make a world of difference not just to our team but those we work with in the same precinct.
“We’re very thankful to have received the funding.”
Echuca’s SES Unit was one of eight chosen across Northern Victoria for about $880,000 in state government funding as part of the Emergency Services Refurbishment Fund.
Rochester’s SES Unit will receive $168,000 for the critical repair of its roof to ensure weather tightness.
The internal refurbishment is to address all Disability Discrimination Act non-compliant areas and improve disability access.
Meanwhile, Kyabram’s SES Unit will receive $102,000 for refurbishment of the current training area to create adequate space and disability access, minor electrical works and compliance checks to be carried out, and installation of asphalt in the rear parking area to minimise safety issues with loose gravel.
“These eight vital projects will improve the condition of critical infrastructure and ensure that emergency services in Northern Victoria will be able to continue their incredible work keeping the community safe,” Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said.
“The Emergency Services Refurbishment Fund will extend the life of existing facilities and resources, while developing job opportunities within the local community.”
