Echuca-Moama Theatre Company is assuring people its latest production is not cancelled, but postponed.
Secretary Lesley Summers said the EMTC committee recently met to discuss its future after discovering it could not perform Little Shop of Horrors at the Paramount in June in light of the coronavirus restrictions.
“We put forward a plan to the cast, which included continuing rehearsals less frequently, keeping social distancing in place, however with the further announcement this week, restricting all non-essential gatherings, we are no longer able to do this,” she said.
“The committee has decided to adopt a positive attitude and would like to make it clear our planned show is not cancelled but postponed to a later date.
“We already have a date booked in October, which was to be for our second show of the year, however going ahead on this date does rely on other issues that affect the running of the show and, of course, whether or not the restrictions are extended.
“In the meantime, our wonderful cast will continue to learn their lines and practise their songs and choreography at home so when we are able to get together again, we will be almost ready to go, whether that be in October or later.
“We are all still very motivated and looking forward to bringing this show to the Paramount and hope the community will be there to support us when we do open.”
Updates will be provided on the EMTC Facebook page.
“We are hopeful we will be able to return to our normal season in 2021 with a play at The Foundry in February/March, variety show in June and junior production in October at the Paramount.”
