After entering the Shepparton District Junior Football League's Youth Girls competition in 2020, the Eagles played just three games before Victoria's second COVID-19 lockdown put the competition to bed.
But on Sunday - 275 days since their last match - the Eagles will fly once more.
A trip into the Lions den awaits the Eagles as they hit the road to Seymour's Kings Park for their first game of the season.
Youth Girls coach Daryl Poole said the team could not be more excited to get out on the park come the weekend.
“We've turned a corner with our team, getting back on the ground for the first time since last year,” Poole said.
“Though last year didn't really happen for us.”
Poole said the main focus of United's season was on "having fun and development".
“We've got girls playing their first game ever, and two girls who have playing for two or three years,” he said.
“It's a good mix.”
Poole encouraged any one interested in giving youth girls football a go this season to come down to training on Tuesday's and Thursday's from 4.30pm at South Recreation Reserve.
“We've got a great group of girls, and we're absolutely keen to have anyone else come down,” he said.
“Our main focus is on fun and development.
“Anyone who wants to have a kick is welcome.”
Echuca United will play Seymour from 3pm, Sunday, May 2 at Kings Park.
● IT'S been a long time between drinks for Moama's youth girls team, after border restrictions last season thwarted their entry into SDFFL's junior competition.
Moama junior co-ordinator Ben Hearn said the enthusiasm from the club's youth team was at an all-time high.
“Out of all our sides, they are probably the most enthusiast,” Hearn said.
“Our numbers have steadily grown, and there is a broad range of new girls and older girls who have played.
“Our coach Matt McKay, from the start of our entry into the competition, has been brilliant, and dedicated a lot of time to the girls.
“They can't wait to get out there and play their first official game this year.”
With the season consisting of 12 rounds, each team will play each other twice before finals action begins in August.
“It helps not having the bye, so we should be able to play pretty much all the way through,” Hearn said.
“But there is a reduction of teams. Hopefully this year is a bit of a reboot for teams to re-enter next year so we can keep this competition going as an option for young girls to play footy.”
Moama will head to Princess Park on Sunday to face Shepparton Swans from 2.15pm.
