Elmore was the first place in Australia to hold a tractor pull event. But last year was the first such event to be held in Elmore since 1978.
The return tractor pull was an absolute success, drawing more than 2500 spectators,
This year, organisers hope they can double that amount.
Committee member Grant Shawcross said this year’s tractor pull was going to be even more special than the last because there was more on offer.
“We’ve really thrown more into it this year,” Mr Shawcross said.
“As well as the tractor pulling, we’ve lined up a stunt team that are coming in from Brisbane to put on some exciting shows, and we’ve also got a car display and truck display.”
The Elmore Tractor Pull is a joint venture between St Joseph’s Primary School Rochester and the Elmore Field Days committee.
Many community members who have relatives that attend St Joe’s volunteer at the tractor pull as track marshals, at the food tent or at the bar.
Around 30 tractors have signed up for the event so far.
McKee’s Garage and Engineering in Echuca is a major sponsor of the event, and has been involved in the tractor pull for generations — the family was actually one of the founders of tractor pulling in Australia.
To find out more about the history of tractor pulling, programs will be handed out at the entrance on the date of the event.
The Elmore Tractor Pull will be held on Saturday, March 18.
Gates will open at noon so that everybody has plenty of time to check out the car and truck displays before the main event.
The Hot Wheels stunt team show will commence at 3pm.
At 3.50pm the tractor drivers will be kitted up and ready for the national anthem and a short flag-raising ceremony, then it’s all systems go for the tractors.
At 7pm the Hot Wheels stunt team will get back on the track while the tractor drivers have a short tea break, and after that the tractor drivers will get back to what they do best — tractor pulling.
The tractor pull is expected to finish about 10pm.
Adult tickets cost $30, children aged 12 to 17 cost $10, children under 12 are free, and family passes (two adults and two kids) can be purchased for $70.
To go in the draw for a free family pass, visit McKee's Garage and Engineering Echuca, take a photo of the reloaded or fresh dirt mini modified tractors that are on show, upload the photo to Facebook and tag Elmore Tractor Pull.
