Established in November 1997, EMFM 104.7 is a not-for-profit, volunteer run, community radio station which broadcasts a diverse range of music, interviews, talk-shows, news and weather programs.
Volunteers at the station were thrilled when they made the move over to their new station just over two weeks ago, even if it is just down the street from their old facility.
They had been operating out of the Echuca East footy clubrooms since 2007, a space which could best be described as cramped.
Mr Vincent said the new station was “state-of-the-art,” with its two new studios, a production room, a tech room, a small kitchenette, a general multi-purpose area, an office and brand new digital equipment.
“In our previous station, we had two studios but we couldn’t talk while anyone else was presenting, due to the lack of space,” he said.
“It’s more comfortable here, there’s more space, it’s more secure and we’re all extremely pleased to be here.
“A lot of community radio stations would love to have what we now have.”
The previous building is to be demolished next week and Mr Vincent said the team still had so much to do, in terms of moving things over and setting up.
After the arduous task of unpacking is complete, the next stages will involve installing sound absorbent material and fitting out the production room with equipment.
They are also desperately searching for volunteers to run programs on air.
Mr Vincent said there were endless opportunities for people to broadcast a program about something they enjoy, whether that be sport, health or whatever else.
“We are Echuca-Moama’s best kept secret,” he said.
The Echuca East Community Precinct’s official opening day will be held on Sunday, July 24, but the radio station will not be opening their doors to the public just yet.
Once the station is better organised, the team at EMFM is planning to hold a separate public open day for community members to come in and have a tour.
EMFM can be heard in Echuca, Moama, Mathoura, Torrumbarry, Lockington, Elmore and Kyabram and is also streamed across the internet 24/7.
Anyone who is interested in presenting a show can register their interest by emailing info@radioemfm.org.au or you can support the station by purchasing a membership at https://radioemfm.org.au/membership/
