Unless your team is on a bright orange converted school bus covered with team and sponsor signage.
That is how the Echuca United Moama Masters are going to be travelling now.
To the average punter it may not look like much, but to the EMUs, it’s perfect.
‘‘When people first saw the colour they weren’t too keen,’’ club president Jack O’Brien said.
‘‘I disagree. The retro look is cool at the moment and this is pretty retro.’’
It’s a look that suits the Masters perfectly, a club based on players who are no longer playing in the top leagues, getting back to playing the game for fun.
‘‘It’s something that we all get to enjoy,’’ he said.
‘‘We travel a long way during the football season, the Victorian country league covers a really big area and in the past we have had guys driving in car pools and towing trailers to get everyone around.
‘‘We get to display who we are with the logo on the bus, we get to show a bit of love to the Workers club who have really looked after us for a long time and haven’t really seen the reward for it and most importantly we get to have everyone travelling together.
‘‘We have storage space under the bus to keep all our gear and we get to sit back and relax with each other and embrace the fun side of the game.’’
The bus will be used for more than just a player transport for road games.
‘‘It’s big enough that we are able to fit our families on the bus, so we can use it for social occasions as well. We go as a group to the occasional event and now we can do that in a fully social way.
‘‘What we love most about the bus is that we get to make the Masters a social environment.
‘‘This club is about so much more than football, it’s about enjoying your mates and their families company.
‘‘It may just be a bus, but it’s something that can bring us all together.
‘‘Plus, everyone is going to know exactly who we are when we come past.’’
