ERH chief executive Robyn Lindsay and ERH board director/fundraising chair Scott Webb say depression, anxiety, loneliness, grief, bereavement and isolation are a challenge for many people across the breadth of our community.
They say while individuals and families grapple every day with the weight of the often unseen conditions, the whole community now has the opportunity to make a profound difference.
Ms Lindsay said the new fundraising campaign would seek to bridge the gaps in mental health care by providing services that better equip people to face their challenges with strength, hope and support.
”ERH is very proud of the role that we play in providing headspace, alcohol and other drug, wellbeing and primary mental health services to the community and also working with partner organisations such as Murray Primary Health Network, Mind Australia, Bendigo Health and Bendigo Community Health Service, Murrumbidgee Local Health District, Intereach, Salvation Army and Njernda Aboriginal Corporation to get the best possible outcomes for our region,” Ms Lindsay said.
She added the 2023 drive complemented the ongoing fundraising community support ERH already received and valued so much in areas such as the Cancer and Wellness Centre along with many other parts of the health service.
Mr Webb said the fundraising committee’s goal was to “pave the path to a brighter future” with funds raised going to directly support services through the provision of facilities and programs.
“By coming together to contribute to this cause, we can build on the recent government investment that has been made in mental health services in our region, as we foster an environment where every person feels valued, heard and supported,” he said.
The fundraising campaign will look to raise funds and promote opportunities for advocacy for mental health service provision and was launched in October as part of Mental Health Awareness Month.
