Confirming what everyone here has always known – junior doctors at ERH receive the best early-career training Victoria has to offer.
Consultant Emergency Physician Dr Renee Stamation, who heads the Critical Care Education program, was delighted to receive the prestigious honour, which recognises Australasian medical educators who have made valuable and significant contributions to teaching, support and mentoring for junior doctors, through innovative programs and novel approaches, with a focus on rural and remote locations.
According to Dr Bishoy Botros and Dr Branka Dovevska, who nominated Renee, ERH is a great place to work and learn, so good it attracts trainees from other hospitals eager to share in this positive experience.
“Renee sees the future in medicine as being able to diagnose with novel tools and approaches – and also sees the potential in people and moulds future doctors of whom the organisation can be proud,” they said.
Personally, Dr Stamation is a little more modest about the award, suggesting it is the team of educators at ERH which is first class, supported by an organisation who value innovation and excellence in healthcare delivery.
Dr Stamation now travels to Western Australia in November for the next phase of the 2023 awards and we all wish her every well-deserved success at the national title.
