If you’re considering attending one of these meetings in your local community or are simply interested in what an information session like this entails, we have all the details you need.
Hear from experts
You can expect to see a panel with members from council, relevant water authorities, emergency services and other relevant community groups.
Each panellist will present an update from their respective organisation’s position/perspective and, as mentioned later, will be open for questions during the meeting as well as available for conversation following the meeting.
Learn where we’re at now
The relevant water authorities will update you on the status of the water storage and dam sites, specifically Lake Eildon.
They will also give you a brief overview of up-to-date weather forecasting, as well as advise you where you can access this information as the weather forecast changes and more information comes out.
Learn how to prepare
Emergency service representatives will provide advice on how to be prepared for a future event of similar devastation to last year’s floods.
They will advise you on what to consider essential items, as well as a step-by-step process to follow if you are forced to evacuate your home.
They will also have handouts and handy tools for you to take from the meeting, as well as inform you where you can find all this emergency information in writing or online.
Ask your questions
The meeting will allow significant time for a Q and A, with an opportunity to ask any of the panellists your burning questions.
As previously mentioned, you will also be able to chat with these representatives following the meeting.
Get involved
There will be opportunities to give feedback and key information about your local area or personal experiences during the floods, as well as the chance to register your interest in starting/joining a flood recovery/preparation committee for your local community.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 12 at 6pm, for residents of Mooroopna and surrounding communities at the Mooroopna Education and Activity Centre.
These organisations will continue to host meetings with Murchison and Toolamba as well as other communities in our local regions.
