Children’s Book Week has been running in Australia since 1945.
Initiated by the Children’s Book Council of Australia, it aims to highlight the importance of reading, children’s literature and authors.
The theme for this year's Book Week is ‘Reading is Magic’, touching on the power of reading, the places it can take you to and sparking curiosity in children.
You can visit the library at any time during the week to take advantage of the activities, but be sure to take part in the special Book Week Fun Day this Friday from 3pm to 5pm.
The fun day will include a sausage sizzle, sidewalk art and some great activities.
Some of the activities on offer this week include:
• Book Swap - Bring in a book you've read and no longer need, and exchange it for a book from a selection offered by other borrowers.
• Make a Magic Wand - Craft your own magical wand and bring a bit of book-inspired enchantment into your life.
• Art Competition - Unleash your creativity and create a ‘Reading is Magic’ themed artwork.
• Scavenger Hunt - Join the scavenger hunt for a chance to win some fantastic Children’s Book Week goodies.
