The evening also saw the Freestyle Now BMX team perform gravity defying stunts for the gathered crowd.
Luckily for organisers an early downpour was finished in time for the gates to open.
The festival was organised by Event People, and General Manager Scott Hollow said despite a couple of the food vans breaking down on the way there was 10 at the festival offering a range of cuisines.
“It’s one of our best FlameFest events we’ve had,” Mr Hollow said.
“There was a big crowd, lots were enjoying the BMX, and everyone seemed to have a good time.
“We brought in a big screen to show the Matildas game and that was pretty popular.
“Cam (Symes) from the Benalla Racing Club, where the event was held, said there was a good mix of local people and visitors from out of town.”
Mr Hollow said he hopes to bring the event back next year.
“It was sponsored by Benalla Rural City Council and there’s an option for another two years,” he said.
“If they’re happy to bring it back, we’re happy to come back,” he said.
The Ensign’s Simon Ruppert was at the event to take some photos.
